Tuticorin, an industrial hub, faced increasing levels of pollution and carbon emissions, significantly affecting public health and the environment. Understanding the need for immediate action, Mr. Christopher, along with a dedicated team of volunteers—Mrs. Angeline, Mr. Lenine, and Mr. Chinnathambi—founded WE CAN in 2012.

Founders' Message
When we founded this organization in 2012, our mission was clear: to address the alarming environmental challenges faced by Tuticorin, an industrial district heavily impacted by pollution and high carbon emissions. We recognized the urgent need for sustainable solutions that would not only safeguard the health of the people but also create a cleaner, greener environment for future generations. We, along with our dedicated team, began by focusing on tree planting and community-driven initiatives. Through the years, we have planted over 25,000 trees, introduced the Miyawaki plantation method, and organized large-scale palm seed sowing drives. We are proud to see how our efforts have contributed to transforming Tuticorin from a polluted city to a cleaner, greener place. This journey would not have been possible without the support of our local communities, the collaboration of organizations, and the commitment of our volunteers. Together, we have shown that every small action can lead to significant change. Our belief in the power of collective effort continues to drive us forward, and we remain committed to making a lasting impact. As we continue this journey, we invite you to join us in our mission.
